A nonprofit in York, Pink Power, is raising funds for cancer patients and survivors through their 8th annual Pink Power Party.
YORK, Pa. — October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, providing support for those battling the disease while bringing attention to the importance of yearly screenings.
A nonprofit, Pink Power, is hosting their biggest fundraiser of the year Thursday to both uplift cancer survivors and raise funds for patients.
The Pink Power Party – Shine Bright like a Diamond event, will open its doors at Wyndham Garden York at 5 p.m. and the festivities begin at 5:30 p.m.
Since the organization’s inception in 2017, Pink Power has raised at least $877,000 for their beneficiaries. On Thursday that number is expected to increase.
Proceeds from this year’s event will go toward four beneficiaries:
- WellSpan York Cancer Center
- UPMC Hillman Cancer Center
- Penn State Cancer Institute
- Vinnie Myers Pink Ink Project
Tickets to the event have sold out but they do have another event coming up.
They’re hosting a free “Party Under the Parasols” event on Monday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Party Under the Parasols will be on Cherry Lane between the Appell Center and Central Market – featuring local artists, live music, food vendors and a pink drink from Mudhook Brewing Co.
