JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — A group of ETSU Quillen College of Medicine students is hosting a pickleball fundraising tournament in March to raise money for the Tri-Cities Affiliate Clinic for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
The medical students at East Tennessee State University (ETSU)’s College of Medicine said their event is called the “Quillen Pickleball Palooza” and will take place at the Memorial Park Community Center March 23-24 in Johnson City.
According to organizers, the fundraising pickleball tournament is sponsored by Johnson City Parks and Rec. and the Quillen College of Medicine. All proceeds from the event will go to the St. Jude Affiliate Clinic that is adjoined to Niswonger Children’s Hospital.
The event’s website states that “all tournament participants are guaranteed 5 games, best of 11.” The tournament will consist of a “round robin” seeding round followed by a single-elimination “medal round”. Games will follow USA Pickleball rules and guidelines, according to the website.

- Women’s Singles and Doubles
- Mixed Doubles
- Beginner/Youth Doubles
