The Gross Reservoir dam expansion project is going on southwest of Boulder.

Boulder County residents who live near the Gross Reservoir expansion project southwest of Boulder have six weeks left to claim their share of $4 million in mitigation funds.

County commissioners worked with residents to create the Gross Reservoir Community Impact Mitigation Fund, which was established to address ongoing air, noise and visual impacts from the seven-year project. The group decided that about 400 neighboring homes were affected by the expansion. Denver Water, which serves the metro area, governs the reservoir. Once the expansion is finished, the reservoir will be able to serve 800,000 people per year, according to calculations from Denver Water officials.

As of March 19, there were still about 50 outstanding claims, according to a county press release. The county urges residents to check their mail and online portal for claim status. Residents can submit claim forms online at https://bouldercounty.gov/departments/commissioners/gross-reservoir-mitigation-fund/ or by mail to the Boulder County Commissioners’ Office. The deadline to submit award claim forms is April 30.
