RICHWOOD, W.Va. (WVVA) – West Virginia State Treasurer Larry Pack today presented more than $2,000 in unclaimed property funds to the Richwood Police Department. These funds were generated from the West Virginia Treasury’s September online firearms auction, demonstrating the program’s commitment to supporting local law enforcement agencies.
Treasurer Pack presented a check for $2,412.42 to Richwood Mayor Gary Johnson and Richwood Police Chief Dan Pitts during a ceremony at Richwood City Hall. This amount was derived from the Office’s September online firearms auction, which saw a dozen firearms sold.
The West Virginia Treasury has been actively distributing funds to various law enforcement agencies, with Treasurer Pack recently presenting over $24,000 to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, more than $8,000 to the Mineral County Sheriff’s Office and over $5,000 to the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office. The September auction’s winning bid of $130,100 came from a federal firearm licensed dealer in West Virginia, marking the first in-state winner to participate in the Office’s online firearms auction.
