Sanders signs order approving additional funds for April severe weather in Ark.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders signed an executive order approving additional funds for the severe weather that happened in early April.

According to the executive order, $450,000 has been authorized from the Governor’s Disaster Response and Recovery Fund, with the Director of the Arkansas Division of Emergency Management managing the funds and covering both program and administrative costs.

Officials with the Governor explained that executive action was warranted to alleviate hardship and suffering due to the severe storms, tornadoes, and flooding that occurred on April 2, 2025.

“Now therefore, I, Sarah Huckabee sanders acting under the authority vested in me as Governor of the State of Arkansas and pursuant to Ark. Code Ann. §§ 12-75-101, et seq., do hereby amend EO 25-07 (dated April 2, 2025) to authorize funding in the amount of $450,000 to be obligated from the Governor’s Disaster Response and Recovery Fund. Such funds will be used at the discretion of the Director of the Arkansas Division of Emergency Management to defray both program and administrative costs,” the order said.

On Tuesday, Sanders provided $30,000 from the Disaster Response and Recovery Fund to help alleviate hardships caused by severe thunderstorms and tornadoes on March 14, 2025.
