Anyone can help raise funds for a new playground at Silver Beach County Park on Monday with a special promotion being run below the bluff in St. Joseph.
The Berrien County Parks Department’s Jaysen Field tells us Silver Beach Pizza will donate 20% of all proceeds from food sales on Monday to the effort. You just need to go there between 4 and 9 p.m.
“We have a flyer that you can either present as a printed piece of paper to them or you can show it to them on our phone, but it has all the instructions for you on it,” Field said. “You can find the flyer on the Silver Beach County Park Facebook page or the Berrien County Parks webpage.”
Field says the parks department last year was awarded an $850,000 state grant for the new Silver Beach playground. It’s now raising another $400,000 to get to the total needed for the new equipment.
“We are about 72% of our project goal. If we can meet our goal, we have a variety of improvements that we want to include in this new playground.”
The goal is to replace the playground equipment after this coming beach season. The parks department wants to create a playground that’s accessible to all kids.
