Thousands in economic development funds awarded to local city


MARSHALL COUNTY, W.Va. (WTRF) –

Thousands of dollars of economic development funds have been awarded to one local community.


Tuesday afternoon, 6th District House of Delegates Representative Jeff Stephens presented three checks of $1,000 dollars each to officials from the City of McMechen.

The money will be split evenly among the police, fire and recreation departments. It will be used to purchase new coats for firefighters and body cams for police officers.

Look for more in the news for more economic development money coming out. These are funds that are taxpayer money coming back to your community. So you can see your tax money at work.

Funds allocated to the recreation department will go toward fencing for the swimming pool.
