$2 million investment to Acadiana Airport looks to bring over 200 jobs to Iberia Parish

IBERIA PARISH, La. (KLFY) — The Delta Regional Authority is making one of the largest investments in its history to the Acadiana Regional Airport. The $2 million investment is going towards the airport’s east side development project bringing in a 200,000 square foot facility for air safety maintenance. United States Senator Bill Cassidy expressed the significance this will bring to both the future of Iberia Parish and Acadiana.

“This is going to increase the number of jobs, increase the skill base of those jobs, which means the people with those jobs are going to make more money,” Cassidy said.

With the goal of creating more than 200 jobs in the parish, the Delta Regional Authority’s investment aims to build up the Iberia Parish and Louisiana economy to be competitive and attractive to people coming into the work force.

“We want to create and build more sustainable, resilient communities,” Chief Administrative Officer for Delta Regional Authority Josh Mcnemar said. “Part of doing that, the first thing is to make sure folks have jobs and be able to say right here at home.”

Cassidy said the investment will have a lasting impact for the facilities at the airport with new construction beginning in the near future.
