Hochul announces $100 million investment in child care

Gov. Kathy Hochul on Wednesday announced a $100 million investment in child care to address the shortage that faces families.

The includes a $50 million tax credit to incentivize businesses to provide child care services for employees.

Another $50 million will go toward grants for the construction of new child care centers and the expansion of those that are currently operating. Hochul is calling this a roadmap for a better future for children and families.

“Lets make it easier on all families here in New York,” she said. “We’re focused on affordability, making life easier, more affordable in the state of New York and focusing on our families. We’ll give them the resources that they need to thrive in our state and also help our employers be the place people want to work.”

This is part of the governor’s more than $7 billion investment to expand child care over the next four years.
