Indian equities in Wednesday’s session (June 25, 2025), tracking positive Asian markets, opened higher in trade today. At the open, Nifty50 zoomed by 116.7 points or 0.47 per cent to 25,161, while the Sensex gained 395 points or 0.48 per cent to 82,450 levels.
Meanwhile, the high-beta Bank Nifty index traded higher by over 122 points at 56,584.
Within the broader markets, smallcaps outperformed with gains of as much as 0.9 per cent, while the midcap gauge was up 0.4 per cent.
From the Nifty50 pack, top gainers in early trade included stocks like Titan, Hero MotoCorp, Tata Consumer Products, Nestle and HCL Technologies, while laggards included stocks such as Kotak Mahindra Bank, ICICI Bank and SBI Life Insurance.
Stocks to watch
Union Bank: The public sector bank’s board meeting is scheduled today to consider fund raise for the ongoing fiscal year 2025-26.
V-Mart Retail: The company’s 5.96 crore bonus issue shares will be listed on the bourses.
Vodafone Idea: The telecom company has denied media records suggesting that the government is mulling an adjusted gross revenue-related relief for it. Vodafone Idea said it has received no such communication from the government.
Timex Group India: Timex Group India promoter Timex Friup Luxury Watches BV is set to offload up to 15 per cent in the company through an offer for sale (OFS) at a floor price of Rs 175 per share, a 33.8 per cent discount to the market price.
Airline stocks: IndiGo and SpiceJet shares are set to be in focus today as IndiGo and SpiceJet’s market shares changed from 64.1 per cent to 64.6 per cent and from 2.6 per cent to 2.4 per cent sequentially in May, according to data released on Tuesday.
Asian markets
Asian stock markets extended gains in Wednesday’s trade, mirroring gains on Wall Street in the overnight session as US-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Iran boosted investor sentiment.
At the last count, the key MSCI Asia ex Japan index traded with gains of over 0.5 per cent. However, key US index futures traded unchanged in Asian trading hours in early trade today.
