The Wendy’s Company announced new development agreements with franchisees in the Republic of Ireland and Romania to open restaurants starting in 2025 as part of its plan to expand across Europe. This new announcement furthers the company’s strategy of developing hundreds of restaurants across the continent throughout the next decade.
“We are continuing our journey to become a brand of increased global significance, and Europe is a high-priority, strategic growth market to expand Wendy’s presence internationally. To accelerate our momentum, we are focused on building relationships with franchisees who share our ambition to grow and scale Wendy’s restaurant footprint across the continent.”

Moreover, the fast-food company re-entered the U.K. market in 2021, aiming for up to 400 restaurants in that market in the future. With its current operations and progress, it appears feasible that Wendy’s will have around 50 new fast-food locations in the U.K. market before the end of 2024.
The company continues to invest in local resources, including supply chains and marketing, to support this expansion. Wendy’s international growth strategy includes significant commitments to accelerate its global footprint. Furthermore, the company plans to seek out other franchisees who are already established in the European market and have advantageous familiarity with local regions as well as proven business experience.
Additionally, last month, Wendy’s introduced a new Triple Berry Frosty that became available on June 10 for a limited time. This vibrant pink Frosty blends blackberry, raspberry, and strawberry flavors. Its release meant the discontinuation of the Orange Dreamsicle Frosty for the season. The launch of the Triple Berry Frosty aligns with a broader fast-food trend toward berry-flavored treats, similar to Chick-fil-A’s new Cherry Berry beverage collection. Wendy’s continues to innovate its menu with new flavors, offering customers refreshing options for the summer.
