SALISBURY, MD—Students in Salisbury University’s Franklin P. Perdue School of Business recently competed in the 2024 Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute Research Challenge in Baltimore.
Finance majors Tim Benson, of Gaithersburg, MD; Jared Mozeleski, of Glastonbury, CT, and Carter Spicer, of Salisbury, participated in the annual competition that provides students networking opportunities, hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis and professional ethics.
Teams were tested on their analytical, valuation, report writing and presentation skills as they gained real-world experience assuming the role of research analysts.
SU’s team was accompanied by Dr. Ani Mathers, faculty mentor and associate professor of finance, and CFA industry mentor Liang Shan served as a resource throughout the report writing process. Judges included local region CFA charterholders.
Students presented their research regarding Ashland, Inc., a global consumer market-focused additives and specialty ingredients company headquartered in Wilmington, DE. Throughout the process the team engaged in feedback from the business’ investor team, presented their findings during the competition, and answered questions about their work.
Those interested in future competitions should contact Mathers.
