Rabat, Morocco – In a move to bolster Moroccan cinema’s presence on the international stage, the Moroccan Cinema Center (CCM) has officially finalized the list of documentaries that will represent the Kingdom
at the Euro-Mediterranean Documentary Film Market.
The event is scheduled to take place in Sitges, Spain, from October 8th to 11th.
This participation is part of an ambitious institutional strategy aimed at opening new horizons
for Moroccan filmmakers and expanding the reach of Moroccan documentary cinema on the global stage.
Selected Official Works List
The official selection includes a number of significant works,
most notably “Woman in the Sun” by director Maryam Addou and “Dignity” by director Fatim Ayachi.
The list also features “Spiritual Diaries” by director Reem Magdy
and “The Mountain of Patience” by director Sami Seif Ser El Khatem.
Additionally, the list includes “When Man Began to Dress Up” by director Robin Bicknell, produced by Hind Sayeh.
This co-production embodies cultural and artistic collaboration between Morocco, France, and Qatar.
The Moroccan Cinema Center explained that this official participation is part of a comprehensive policy
aimed at “supporting and promoting Moroccan documentary film by assisting professionals and project holders
and facilitating their access to international production, co-production, financing, and distribution networks.”
This step is particularly significant given past successes, especially after Moroccan films
were featured as guests of honor at the European Film Market last year.
These efforts seek to leverage these prestigious professional platforms to build sustainable international partnerships.

The selection of this documentary package is the culmination of a competitive process following
an open call for applications launched by the center for Moroccan producers and directors.
The aim was to select the most promising projects and provide them
with an opportunity to be presented to key decision-makers in the film industry.
The Sitges market is a vital platform that allows Moroccan filmmakers
to connect directly with a wide network of distributors,
satellite television representatives, producers, and international financiers specializing in the documentary film sector.
As a result, this enhances opportunities for funding and global marketing of Moroccan productions.
