North Iowa — Two north Iowa school districts are holding special elections Tuesday.
The Osage Community School District is asking voters to approve its revenue purpose statement for safety and facility improvements at Lincoln Elementary using state SAVE funds. SAVE stands for “Secure an Advanced Vision for Education.”
The Lincoln project includes HVAC improvements, electrical and plumbing upgrades, fire alarm system improvements, and classroom and restroom renovations. It does not include any new construction projects.
District leaders said there is no local property tax increase involved with the plan.
In Charles City, the school district is asking voters to renew its physical plant and equipment levy, set to expire in 2030. PPEL funds are used for specific school infrastructure and hardware expenses.
If approved, district leaders said the measure will allow funding to continue at the same level through 2040.
A successful “yes” vote would not increase property taxes for Charles City voters.
