WHEELING – WVU Medicine Wheeling Hospital recently received a $2,367 donation from Ogden Newspapers on behalf of participants in the 2026 Ogden Newspapers Wellness Weekend, providing additional community support for the future WVU Cancer Institute St. Joseph Regional Cancer Complex.
During registration for the Wellness Weekend races, participants were given the opportunity to make an additional contribution to the future Cancer Complex. Those individual gifts combined to raise $2,367 in support of the project and its mission to expand access to comprehensive cancer care for patients throughout the Ohio Valley.
“Every year, Wellness Weekend brings our community together around health, activity and a shared commitment to making the Ohio Valley a better place to live,” said Jessica Moore, AVP of Foundation and Community Relations for the WVU Medicine North Region. “We are incredibly grateful to Ogden Newspapers for giving participants the opportunity to extend that spirit of wellness even further by supporting the future St. Joseph Regional Cancer Complex. Every contribution represents someone in our community choosing to invest in better cancer
care close to home.”
WVU Medicine Wheeling Hospital has been a longtime supporter of Wellness Weekend and its emphasis on healthy lifestyles, community engagement and physical activity. The annual event draws participants of varying ages and abilities and has become a signature tradition for the Wheeling community.

The future WVU Cancer Institute St. Joseph Regional Cancer Complex represents a major investment in cancer care for Wheeling and the surrounding region. The approximately 125,000-square-foot facility will bring a broad range of cancer services together in one location, creating a more coordinated and convenient experience for patients and families while expanding access to advanced cancer care closer to home.
“For patients facing cancer, having high-quality care available close to their families, their support systems and their homes can make an enormous difference,” Moore said. “The St. Joseph Regional Cancer Complex is about building the next generation of cancer care for the
Ohio Valley. The support we continue to receive from individuals, businesses and community partners reinforces just how important this project is to our region.”
WVU Medicine Wheeling Hospital expressed its appreciation to Ogden Newspapers for its continued partnership and to each Wellness Weekend participant who chose to make an additional donation during registration.
