Proskauer Rose Picks Up Pair of Finance Lawyers from Milbank

Milbank finance partner Eric Reimer and counsel Gayle Berne are heading to Proskauer Rose as the firm looks to bolster its finance capabilities.

Reimer and Berne join as partners in the firm’s global finance practice, the firm announced on Thursday.

Reimer works with private equity firms, hedge funds, borrowers, issuers and lenders in credit facilities, front-end lending transactions, mezzanine facilities, bridge facilities, acquisition facilities, debt issuances and restructurings.

“Eric’s and Gayle’s broad experience across asset classes has such strong synergy with our platform and the clients we serve, ” said Proskauer chair Steven Ellis in a statement.

“As we continue to expand our premier practices in finance and private credit, I have no doubt that their arrival will be of immediate impact and value,” he said.

Reimer began his career at Milbank before jumping to McDermott Will & Emery, where he chaired its corporate finance practice group and was a senior member of its restructuring group. In 2008, he joined Goodwin before heading to O’Melveny & Myers in 2010 where he was the chair of its corporate practice. He rejoined Milbank in 2014 as a partner in its Los Angeles office.

Berne joined Milbank in 2021 from Jones Day. She focuses her practice on senior debt financing with an emphasis on secured and asset-based lending transactions.

“The breadth and complexity of transactions that our clients are exploring has continued to grow rapidly,” Justin Breen, the head of Proskauer’s global finance practice, said in a statement.

“Eric and Gayle bring wide-ranging and market-leading experience that will help us continue to meet our clients’ changing needs as they look to take advantage of new market opportunities,” he said.

Reimer’s move was brokered by Sabina Lippman, partner and co-founder of global legal recruitment firm Lippman Jungers.
